Thank You, Mom
It goes without saying that being a mom is one of the TOUGHEST, most REWARDING jobs out there and not a day goes by where we aren’t grateful for all the hard work and sacrifices that moms across the world make for their families. This Sunday is a special chance (but c’mon… every day is a new opportunity!) to say “THANK YOU MOM” and “WE LOVE YOU!”
We love them (at times, maybe not so much) and as we get older, sometimes, we become them. Whether she carried you inside of her for nine months or is a non-blood related woman who has loved you like her own—God has placed a Mom in each of our lives to admonish us in wisdom and to teach us what it is to walk humbly in everything we do, putting ourselves down and serving others in LOVE and with a GRATEFUL heart.
This Scripture seems to be written just for mothers, and is an example we are all called by Christ to live out:
“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
Everyone has a longing and need for that kind of unselfish love a mother gives, ultimately that love comes from a holy and perfect Father. GOD IS LOVE. And He has given us a Mother, or Mother figure, to exemplify that love to us in a real tangible way.
“By this we know love, that He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.” -1 John 3:16
THANK HIM for the woman in your life who have raised you and cared for you, pouring out grace upon grace, throughout your childhood and up until today—and then thank those dedicated woman with a phone call, a hand written note, dinner out, hug, or kiss on the cheek, SHOW THAT YOU CARE. And not only on Mother’s Day but for every day she has been there and for every day ahead— THANK HER and tell her over and over and over how much you CHERISH HER.
“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” -1 John 3:18
Here’s to all of the moms out there. May we humbly say that you’re simply the BEST MOM EVER. Thank you all for everything you do every day.

Once you encounter the light, be the light. This was the challenge that Pastor Ron Baum gave during his summer sermon series, Driving Out the Darkness—a challenge to be the light in our world, our communities, and even in our church. Many took that challenge seriously and decided to join us for some of our…Read More
“YOU SMELL FUNNY”
What do you smell like? One of my favorite parts about being a foster parent is getting to experience a similar stage of life with multiple little ones. The differences are striking! Yes, a baby is a baby, a toddler is still a toddler, but…they’re all just a little bit different. Their personalities. Their smiles.…Read More
Do Life Together
Our motto for our life groups ministry at Cornerstone is, “Do Life Together.” It’s simple, but it effectively describes the goal of our Life Groups. It’s not about having more programs; it’s about building community. It’s about individuals finding their people to help navigate the highs, the lows, the rollercoaster that life is. Life Groups…Read More
