Community & Foreign Missions

COMMUNITY MISSIONS

Some of the greatest opportunities to share Christ’s love with others is through following His example and His directive by tending to the needs of others in our community.  Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!” (Matthew 25:40 NLT)

You can make a difference, one person at a time.  Please contact us to see how you can get involved.

Every Monday - Knitting and Crocheting from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Whether you love to knit or crochet or would like to learn, this ministry is for you.  We make hats, scarves and baby items from donated yarn for distribution at H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People in Elsinore), nursing homes, the homeless and other community areas in need.  Not able to join us on Mondays?  No problem, simply knit or crochet from home!  For more information, contact Gayle at jgsephton@aol.com.

Every Wednesday - From 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. we bridge with Project TOUCH (Together Our Unity Can Conquer Homelessness) in providing dinner and breakfast snacks to those currently residing at the shelter in Temecula. For more information, contact Betty at bdick@go2cornerstone.com.

May 6 - On the first Sunday of each month from 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m. we serve lunch to our communities homeless and low income families in a park setting.  If you are not able to volunteer in person, you can still help by providing families with grocery bags of food who may otherwise go without.  Some of the items needed are canned vegetables, canned fruit, cereal, oatmeal, pasta, pasta sauces, bread, milk, rice, water, toiletries, etc.  For more information, contact Ted & Kathy at ktburch52@yahoo.com or Esper at espersims@hotmail.com.

May 12 - Join the “Cornerstone Team” in distributing food to struggling families from 5:45 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. at HOPE in Lake Elsinore.  We need at least 100 volunteers ages 12 and up.  For more information, contact Betty at 674-8661, x1094 or bdick@go2cornerstone.com.

Operation: Homefront - Once a quarter volunteers show their appreciation to our service men and women serving over seas by sending them a care package.  We supply you with a personal suggestion list for the package contents as well as their name and address.  You shop, assemble the care package and mail it four weeks prior to the holiday (Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) and then notify the leader when the package was sent.  For more information, contact Cindy at crmuzic@verizon.net.

FOREIGN MISSIONS

The Bible commands followers of Christ to go into all the world and tell others about God. These days spreading the Gospel into the far reaches of the planet has become much easier.

However, to reach everyone so that they may hear the Good News of Jesus Christ , we need to send out men and women who have a passion to reach lost people and proclaim the Gospel with words and actions by supporting them financially and prayerfully.

Through foreign missions we our accomplishing great things.  Our short-term trips to Mexico, monthly financial support to several missionaries, and long-term mission projects, bring God’s Word and love in practical ways to the hopeless and the lost.

For more information regarding Foreign Missions, please contact Pastor Mike Brisson at mbrisson@go2cornerstone.com.

Testimonials from Previous Missions Trips:

Pastor Ron and Pastor Mike,

I want to say that I am thankful to be a part of the Cornerstone Community Family. I have been at Cornerstone for 7 years. I have grown as a Christian through the ministry of the word as well as the constant call to get involved in the Church. This experience of being on the Standing With Haiti Team strenghtened my sense of belonging. I applaud the Church for its local and international outreach.

In Him,
Annette Nyqvist

I am humbled and truly appreciative of the ability, resources, and endurance God has given each one on this team.  We and similar teams in Haiti and around the world are truly fortunate to be given the chance to make a difference. The Lord has enabled us to do what we can to make a change in a country that is so needy of  change.  Just to look into the eyes of the children and see their strength and resolve to prosper is life changing! The work of Jesus and what we were able to accomplish is inspiring. We are blessed to show that there are people who are willing to make sacrifices to go out in The Lord’s name to help His people!

Thanks to the Haiti Team, Cornerstone Community Church, Samaritan’s Purse, and Lazarian Homes for making it possible!!

In Christ’s name, Tod Hoskins

This was my first international short-term mission trip with Cornerstone Community Church but my eighth overall.  Others have been to Latin America, Caribbean Islands and Europe.  Some were physical labor and some were evangelism.

On this trip, and each trip, I was impressed 1) with the acuteness of the need not only for socio-economic help but for spiritual help – people desperately need the Lord, 2) that these are real people not just pictures in the media – we got to meet several wonderful people, and 3) the ways God will use ordinary people who are willing to be used, many times outside their comfort zone – teachers, managers, architects, engineers, pastors and craftsmen worked construction shoulder to shoulder attempting to relieve a critical housing shortage and share God’s love.

A tremendous blessing awaits you on the next international short-term mission trip.  Dick Siems
